Betamethasone Valerate with Neomycin Cream

Betamethasone is a type of medicine called a topical corticosteroid. It works by stopping skin cells releasing various inflammatory substances that make blood vessels widen and cause the skin to become red, swollen, itchy and painful.

It reduces the swelling, redness, and itching and so helps prevent scratching that can further irritate the skin. Neomycin is an antibiotic medicine used to treat infections with bacteria. It works by causing bacteria to produce abnormal and faulty proteins.

This ultimately kills the bacteria and clears up any infection. The cream is more suitable for moist, weeping areas of skin, while the thicker, more greasy ointment is more suitable for dry, scaly areas of skin.
