Femodene ED is a combined pill containing synthetic oestrogen and progesterone hormones (ethinylestradiol 30mg & gestodene 75mg). The treatment is taken for 28 days with no 7 day break. The strips contain two types of pill, 21 with the active ingredients and 7 'inactive pill' containing no active ingredient. Starting with the 21 active pills you will need to start the course between the first and fifth day of your period, to give immediate protection against pregnancy. If you start after your fifth period day you will need to use other means of contraception for at least 2 days.

Taking Femodene ED:

Femodene ED is a combined pill containing synthetic oestrogen and progesterone hormones (Ethinylestradiol 30mg & Gestodene 75mg). The treatment is taken every day without a break. Pills should be taken at the same time each day for it to be effective. Start the treatment by taking an ‘active pill’ each day for 21 days, followed by an ‘inactive pill’ each day for 7 days. Femodene ED should be started between the first and fifth day of your period, to give immediate protection against pregnancy. If you start after your fifth period day you will need to use other means of contraception for at least 2 days.

How Femodene ED works:

Femodene ED works in the following ways:

• Prevents the ovaries releasing an egg
• Thicken the mucus of the cervix to act as a barrier to sperm
• Thins the lining of the womb preventing the egg from attaching

Please remember that Femodene ED will prevent unwanted pregnancy only and will not prevent the contraction of AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).

How effective is Femodene ED?

The Pill is more than 99% effective when used correctly. However this depends on women taking tablets exactly as required.

If you decide to try for a baby, it is best if you stop taking Femodene ED once you have finished the packet. It can help to wait for one natural period before trying to get pregnant. Waiting means you can start pre-pregnancy care, such as taking folic acid and stopping smoking. It also allows the pregnancy to be dated more accurately.
