Welcome to our erectile dysfunction service.
New guide lines for Online Pharmacies require us to diagnose a condition before offering prescription medicines to a patient. Here at NationWide Pharmacies our doctors have been working hard to develop an online erectile dysfunction diagnostic service. This new service will provide our patients with an accurate diagnosis of their condition. Following the diagnosis our doctor will be able to issue a free private prescription as usual.
This new diagnostic procedure takes a little more time than our previous method of consultation but the good news is it is only required once and it will provide you with a very accurate diagnosis.
Once your online diagnosis is complete you will be able to purchase your ED medicines as usual. Three months from the date of your diagnosis our doctor will send you a medical review form to monitor your progress on the treatment and renew your free private prescription if necessary.
Treatments start from £4.00 per tablet
Available erectile dysfunction treatments:
NationWide Pharmacies provides free private prescriptions for Viagra (Sildenafil), Levitra (Vardenafil), Cialis (Tadalafil) and Cialis Daily (Tadalafil). These treatments work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis allowing the blood to flow more easily and allowing an erection to be maintained. Viagra, Levitra are both taken 30 minutes before engaging in sex and are effective for up to 4 hours. Cialis, sometimes referred to as the 'weekend pill', is affective for up to 36 hours. Cialis Daily contains a lower dose of tadalafil and is taken every day giving 24 hour cover.
Viagra (sildenafil) is the original erectile dysfunction treatment (ED) manufactured by Pfizer. The active ingredient sildenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis allowing men to maintain an erection. Viagra has an effective period of 4-5 hours and is available as a 25mg, 50mg and 100mg strength tablet.
Sildenafil also known as Generic Viagra is a cheaper alternative to Pfizers well know treatment for erectile dysfunction, Viagra. As of June 21st 2013 the patent on Viagra expires in the UK which will allow other pharmaceutical companies to manufacture and sell generic alternatives to the UK market. Non-branded alternatives use the same active ingredient, Sildenafil Citrate, and will work in the same way
Cialis Daily is a treatment for male impotence / erectile dysfunction (ED) produced by Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals. Cialis is available in the UK as 2.5mg and 5mg strength tablets. Unlike other ED treatments the treatment is taken continuously every day and provides 24 hour effectiveness.
Cialis, dubbed the ‘weekend pill’ due to its long duration of effectiveness, is a prescription treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) available in the UK. Similar to Viagra and Levitra, Cialis uses tadalafil, a PDE 5 inhibitor, to relax the blood vessels in the penis to allow increased blood flow in order for an erection to be gained. A key benefit of Cialis is its superior period of effectiveness.
Levitra, manufactured by Bayer, is an oral treatment for erectile dysfunction / male impotence. Levitra's active ingredient Vardenafil Hydrochloride belongs to a family of medicines called PDE 5 inhibitors which aid the circulation of blood in the penis, allowing an erection to be maintained for normal sexual intercourse.

What is erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence, is a condition affecting men whereby they are unable to get or maintain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse. ED is a common condition and is estimated to affect around half of all men in the UK over the age of 40 to some degree. The reason for the condition will vary from person to person and can be caused by a wide range of physical, psychological and lifestyle factors. Often ED can be symptomatic of an underlying health condition so it is vital that you consult a doctor if you are suffering from ED.
What causes erectile dysfunction?
The causes of erectile dysfunction can be both physical and psychological. In around three-quarters of cases of long term ED there is normally an underlying physical problem. Physical conditions that affect the blood flow to the penis, nervous system or hormone levels can affect a person's ability to get an erection. Prostate and pelvic surgery can also cause ED in some cases. In most short-term cases of ED the problem is more likely to be caused by psychological factors. Lifestyle choices can also play a significant role as an unhealthy lifestyle can affect your sexual and general health.
Physical factors that can lead to erectile dysfunction include:
High blood pressure
Over/under active thyroid
Prostate or pelvic surgery
Psychological factors that can lead to short-term erectile dysfunction include:
Low confidence / low self-esteem
Some lifestyle choices that can have an adverse impact on your sexual health include:
High alcohol intake
What are the symptoms of erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction symptoms are defined as not being able to get or maintain an erection sufficient to have intercourse. Individuals may sometimes find this only occurs in certain situations. For example, you may be able to get an erection during masturbation, or you may find that you sometimes wake up with an erection but you are unable to get an erection with a partner.
In these circumstances, it is likely that the underlying cause of ED is primarily psychological (stress related). However, if you are unable to get an erection under any circumstances, it is likely that the underlying cause is primarily physical.
Erectile dysfunction treatments:
There are a number of treatments available to people suffering from erectile dysfunction. If your condition is caused by an underlying physical condition like diabetes or high blood pressure you may need to get the condition treated before you can treat the erectile dysfunction.
The most common types of prescription medications are (PDE-5) inhibitors which temporarily increase the blood flow to the penis. There are three main types available for use in the UK, sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis / Cialis Daily), and vardenafil (Levitra). The three products are available in different strengths and have different effective periods. For comparison details see the above table.
A vacuum pump is another treatment method for ED. It consists of a clear plastic tube that is connected to a pump, which is either hand or battery operated.
You place your penis in the tube and pump out all of the air. This creates a vacuum that causes the blood to fill your penis, making it erect. You then place a rubber ring around the base of your penis in order to keep the blood in place, allowing you to maintain an erection for around 30 minutes.
It may take several attempts to learn how to use the pump correctly, but they are usually very effective. After using a vacuum pump, nine out of 10 men are able to have sex, regardless of the cause of their ED.
If your ED has an underlying psychological cause then you may benefit from a type of treatment called sensate focus. If conditions such as anxiety or depression are causing your ED, you may benefit from counseling (a talking therapy).
The lifestyle choices you make can have a big impact on your sexual health. Keeping fit, eating a well-balanced diet, stopping smoking and reducing the amount of alcohol you consume will help fight the causes of erectile dysfunction.
